Help us respond to the devastating floods in Bihar, India, which have affected more than 3 million people according to the Indian government. The floods cover a huge area and it could take at least three months for the waters to subside.
Christian Aid is responding and our partners are:
distributing food such as rice, pulses, sugar, salt, biscuits
distributing non food items such as candles, matches, water purification tablets
providing materials for temporary shelter
distributing hygiene kits including soap and chlorine tablets
providing medical assistance in relief camps and villages.

Partners respond
Christian Aid is working with three partners - CASA, EHA and JUDAV - with experience of responding to floods in Bihar.
During the initial relief phase, these partners have been working in three of Bihar’s worst affected districts to provide meals to more than 10,000 people in relief camps and through community kitchens. EHA is also providing medical aid to prevent the outbreak of water-borne diseases.
Our partners report many cases of dalits and indigenous tribes being ignored or excluded in the relief effort. Since these groups are unlikely to be able to access support independently and so are least able to cope, we are prioritising their needs in our response.
